It can be tempting to buy or sell a home on your own. More and more, consumers are gathering information from the internet and feel confident that they have all the information they need to get through the transaction. However, the vast majority of real estate consumers eventually come to realize the many benefits of working with a real estate agent to actually save them money and reduce the stress of getting through the transaction.
The following are just some important reasons for working with a professional real estate agent and the value they bring a consumer:
• Professionalism. Agents work for brokerages and are licensed professionals. This means I report to a manager and I’m bound by state laws to serve your best interests. I also have access to our local multiple listing service (MLS). The MLS information is available to other real estate professionals and the information provided is usually more extensive than what you’ll normally see in a search online. In addition to the MLS, I have established a vast network of fellow colleagues, mortgage representatives, attorneys and vendors from which to seek and share information about the local markets. Also beneficial, is that I have access to the latest digital marketing methods and programs.
• Negotiation. Negotiating can be like walking a tightrope for buyers and sellers, but as a real estate agent, I have unique experience because I negotiate all the time. It’s what I do for a living. As an agent, I deflect any potential negativity that can be felt in negotiating. I have the benefit of not being emotionally tied to the house, which allows me to convey the concerns of either buyer or seller in a professional manner, so that they get what they want.
• Knowledge. As a real estate agent, I have extensive information on neighborhoods, schools, new developments and subdivisions, and other important local information. I’ve seen a lot of houses in my 27+ years of working in real estate. I know which homes are comparable, what they sold for and why. Establishing positive business relationships with other colleagues has also allowed me to get the “news” of new listings coming onto the market or learning of a buyer coming to the area who might be interested in one of my listings.
The best reason for working with a professional real estate agent, is that you don’t have to go it alone. I work with you every step of the way-from List to Sold.
