With Halloween just over a week away, many homeowners with properties on the market might find themselves wondering, “Just how am I going to be able to sell my home during the Halloween season?” This is an understandable approach to selling a home in the second half of October, but there are in fact a number of ways you can leverage Halloween as a real estate marketing opportunity. Here are a few:
Utilize Curb Appeal
It goes without saying that you should have good general upkeep of your home when on the market, but paying extra special care to your lawn and home condition when there’ll be hundreds of people seeing your house on a given night will go a long way. Put in the extra-extra effort to make your house shine from the curb- people will notice the difference.
Staging
If you want to get leads on Halloween (and you should ALWAYS want leads, regardless of the time of year), you’ll want to make sure your home is ready to sell. It’s impossible to know whether someone will want to take a look at your home, so keeping the inside in tip-top shape will greatly improve your ability to procure leads.
Host an Open House
Yes, it might seem a bit odd to host an open house on Halloween, but if you’re handing out candy and interacting with parents that are trick-or-treating with their kids, it could be a great opportunity to have them do a quick walk-thru of your house. If you’d prefer not to have an Open House on Halloween itself (which is perfectly reasonable), be sure that real estate signage is displayed on your lawn for the big night.
Talk to your Agent
While your agent wouldn’t necessarily have to be at your home on Halloween night, they could have other clients who are taking their kids out trick-or-treating in your neighborhood or use alternative tactics (such as eCards, online advertising, etc.) to drive more traffic to your home leading up to the big night. Be sure to use your agent in as full of a capacity as you can muster, so as to really get your money’s worth.
Get into the Spirit!
Decorating your yard to make sure your home is inviting to families trick-or-treating will go a long way towards driving traffic to your front door. Don’t forget to be generous with the candy, though!
