When to Buy: A Monthly Guide

With the Fall quickly approaching (the official start date is September 22nd, for those that didn’t know), there’ll be a number of purchases you’ll want to make that are likely to be cost-efficient due to the time of year. In fact, many products can be found at low prices based solely on the season. By doing your research on which products fit the bill, you’ll be able to save a ton and get what you need in a timely fashion.

Here are some products you’ll want to consider buying in the coming months, broken up by month:

September

The back-to-school section of your local grocery store or office supply distributor will likely have deep discounts on notebooks, folders, pens, and general office supplies in September. Be sure to keep an eye out for big Labor Day sales as well.

October

Have you been thinking about replacing your washer/dryer unit? Maybe you’re in for a new vacuum cleaner? In October, many home appliance companies will unveil their new models, thus discounting past (but still quite effective) models. Baking items also start going on sale in October, given the quickly approaching Winter season, and you might be able to find good deals on Summer items as well.

November

Early November is the ideal time to shop for next year’s Halloween costumes and decorations on clearance, as well as all things Thanksgiving. It’s quite common for stores to have great grocery deals in November as well, and at the end of the month, Black Friday and Cyber Monday will have great deals on a variety of electronics.

December

You’ll likely be able to find discounted grocery items leftover from Thanksgiving at the beginning of December, and at the end of the month, you’ll find decorations, Christmas cards, and wrapping paper galore- all buyable at deeply discounted rates.

January

The White Sales in January are a perfect time to stock up on fresh sheets and linens, and you’ll find lots of snack food at sale prices during Super Bowl season. Early January is also a great time to purchase Christmas cards at low prices.

February

As Winter winds down, you’ll be able to find snow boots, Winter coats, and other forms of seasonal apparel at heavily reduced prices to make room for Spring clothes. After Valentine’s Day, meanwhile, you’ll be able to find perfume gift sets, candy, and themed gift wrap at discounted prices.
