5 Steps to Wowing Potential Buyers

Anyone looking to sell their home for a good price in a short
period of time should be focused on one thing above all else:
wowing prospective buyers. If you’re able to present a fashionable, inviting home to visitors that allows them to imagine themselves living there (and to be happy in doing so), it’ll only be a matter of time before you’re able to slap a ‘Sold’ sticker on that sign in your front yard.

While you can’t change the size or structure of your house without a concerted effort at a substantial cost, there are a number of steps you can take to wow would-be buyers. Here are a few you might want to consider while you’re going through the home-selling process:

No need for oddities or controversies

While most homes are filled with objects and mementos that make its residents chuckle, comical quips may have a detrimental effect on the potential buyers’ view of the home. This would go double for controversial opinions/items, such as anything politically themed.

Make it shine

Each home has its own positives and drawbacks, and if you want to sell your home at a stellar price, you’ll need to highlight your home’s best features. Whether it’s a winding staircase, a beautiful garden in the backyard, or an old-fashioned fireplace, looking back on what drew you to the home in the first place will be a great step towards making it appealing to others.

Quiet is okay

You don’t need to have music playing in your home to make it seem inviting- if you don’t have a feel for your guest’s preferred taste in music, don’t push your luck. Soft jazz in the background is a safe bet, but blasting niche genres will be unappealing to most
buyers.

Cleanliness above all

While this tip seems like a no-brainer, you’d be surprised. Keep your house as close to spotless as reasonably possible during the selling process, and consider packing away extra materials that add clutter and detract from your home’s inviting nature (clutter will also make your home seem smaller).

No need for personal photos

By definition, personal photos are just that: personal. It should be easy for prospective buyers to imagine themselves living in your home, and keeping personal photos around will make it difficult for them to do so. They won’t be gone forever, but packing up your family photos until the house is sold will make a significant impact on the way visitors view your home.
